about

On December 31st 2012 Cal's Bar, the lovable, grimy hole-in-the-wall at Wells and Van Buren, officially closed its doors after one last rock n roll hurrah. Cal's sat virtually unchanged in its corner of the South Loop for 65 years, refusing to back down to gentrification, remaining as dim and dirty as ever even as the high-rise condos started arriving. Unfortunately, the building that has housed the bar since 1947 was recently sold, and it turned out that the dive wasn't part of the property owner's future plans.

On the bill that night were Berwyn garage stompers THE DEMERITS, the soulful rock n roll of MERCY MERCY(featuring Cal's owner Mike Feirstein on bass!) and the almighty rock n roll thunder of THE LARROQUETTES.

This recording before you perfectly preserves the atmosphere, the love and the booze that was swirling in the air that night during THE LARROQUETTES set. The audio virtually untouched to preserve a truly once in a lifetime opportunity for friends, near and far, to witness.

We miss Cal's Liquors every single day and Chicago as a city will never be the same. Please come with us and step back in time, grab a seat at the bar and order up! THE LARROQUETTES are about to take you on a mind ride, baby!!!
